Only if all the Allies push it ![]()
Pm him, I'm not sure. I just know he was thinking about coming, and since its quite close was going to bring the tank. Its made out of an Argocat, pretty light weight and has tracks...either way 'a tank can add a nice edge.' haha

'Twas a rhetorical question really, but never mind! Heh, I know it can make it from one end of Nigel's drive to the other so he should be OK....
BTW, CiA now possess some nifty (heavy) gadgets that might cause tanks a problem, suggest organising a mine-detecting crew....

Pretty lightweight
it's about 200kgs over a normal Argocats GVW from memory , with all the weight up top .
CWs reference to "nifty gadgets" are mine and Kermits lengths of scaffolding pole to thread into the tracks
Me and the rest of the boys should be up for this fingers crossed bazs bike will be running sweet as a daisy

Thats no way to talk about Del

Your FIRED!!!!
I was actually talking about Tom, I have a much better pet-name for you, Derek...
I'll take mountain goat as a compliment!
After realising I couldn't make Bryansk due to the family I've spent the last month saying "I'm busy last weekend in August" whenever holidays are mentioned. ![]()
more like a cotton wool puff thrower, don't think oddball wants the paintwork chipped
though his tank looks uber cool now its got tracks on
"Take that you rotton helping of strawberry flan!"
Joseph Porta to "strawberrys and cream", in the sven hassel book ,ogpu prison
Although last time i spoke to Ste/D he reckons Oddball still doesn't want it shot at which sort of defeats the point of having it really....
Something to do with the rear (imitation) fuel drums being made of thin metal.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
What would be the point in shooting at a tank with small arms fire anyway? It's not going to do much good is it? And yeah it looks great with the tracks on; it looks even better with 2 AEG's mounted in the turret haha
When I was talking to Josh (Gunman) he was telling me about Carentan, where he has several vehicles attending including a tank and he said rather than start lobbing pyros and grenades at it, the idea would be that if infantry encountered the tank then they would fall back unless they had a panzershrek. However if they possessed such weapon then it would be the tank that fell back until infantry support were able to take out the threat. How does that sound? Anybody got a repro Panzershrek/Faust?

All a bit hypothetical really - Oddball hasn't asked if he can bring a vehicle to the game nor have we decided whether vehicles will add anything to the game, so one to ponder on in the coming months.
BTW, regardless of whether there is any point in hitting a tank with small arms, it WILL get shot at, guaranteed.

Erm... you've obviously not seen a light tank taken out with small arms fire then?
Vision blocks get smashed, track links jam, the crew inside have a lot of noise to put up with when engaged by small arms and inside, its hard to think and operate clearly (porta im sure will back me up on that - a friends clanger 2 was engaged by 20mm whihc although it could not penetrate their armour scared the bejeesus out of them).
One of the first captured tigers was disabled because a round jammed the turret ring ![]()
If you can suppress the crew with enough small arms fire you can get up close to put a charge on the engine decks.
Tetrarchs btw had paper thin armour on the side and rear.
So what infantry *dont* do when confronted with a tank is sit and wait to die or stop shooting.
It just seems completely pointless to me to bring a vehicle to an airsoft game that cannot be at all in the line of fire.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Remember, we always play vehicles in game can't be disabled by incoming AEG fire (no means of identifying disablement and H&S issues for driver) only pyro in proximity.

Oh no i know Dave but they still get hosed dont they, i was guarding Churchill at Eagles and we received a lot of incoming.
All part of the game to be honest. Although they didnt 'kill' us it encouraged us to get the hell out.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Absolutely, it will be shot at - a lot!

Nail on the head there Gadge, i remember on Salisbury plain way back when
firing my GPMG at Chieftains in the Russian block formation rolling towards our trenchs, you know you ain't going to stop it especially with blanks but it makes you feel better.

______________

Again, it was only a suggestion.
I know what you mean about it being distracting and I appreciate that it wouldn't be very pleasant inside it when that's all going on, however as it was pointed out this is all hypothetical anyway and Oddball hasn't contacted anyone on the forum to say he's coming. I just said he mentioned that he might be coming, to me and that it was close enough to bring the tank.
It was just a suggested way, that I thought was quite reasonable, of working it so there isn't Nerf balls flying all over the places and big pyro blasts all over the back of the tank. ![]()
It's not my place to comment on whether he wants it being shot at, I know the drums on the back are made from old chip oil drums and the majority of the rest is aluminium. He did say the drums on the back wouldn't last long to me.
I think that the realism of having something like a tank, in the middle of a battle would bring (whether it can receive direct fire on purpose or not) is something that shouldn't be sniffed at. Especially when it's pretty much purpose built for airsoft.
I take it you're considering playing on the Axis side for this event mate

No not at all, PBI are attending as South Staffords as per the couple of threads on it.
If you're implying i dont want the tank there cos i don't want to face it on the field then far from it.
Its got *nothing* to do with what i want i just think its lame to have airsoft vehicles you're scared to get shot at - especially when they are not even real MVs that require preservation.
Anyway back on topic it looks an ideal site for Sicily IMO. Nice and hilly with scree and loose stones etc.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I agree...
It is a good site and I can't wait for the event. Should be good weather as well!
Where is X Site? Just inside Wales?
